CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) cordially invites healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, educators, and stakeholders to submit abstracts for our 2025 Annual Conference. This year’s theme emphasizes the critical role of nursing and midwifery in driving economic growth and sustainable development in Ghana and across Africa.

We seek innovative research, evidence-based practices, and transformative ideas that demonstrate how nursing and midwifery can be leveraged as powerful economic engines for national prosperity.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Eligibility

  • Open to nurses, midwives, healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, and students
  • International submissions welcome
  • Both completed research and work-in-progress accepted

Abstract Categories

  1. Original Research - Completed studies with findings
  2. Systematic Reviews/Meta-analyses - Evidence synthesis studies
  3. Quality Improvement Projects - Practice improvement initiatives
  4. Case Studies - Innovative practice examples
  5. Policy Briefs - Policy analysis and recommendations
  6. Educational Innovations - Teaching and learning advancements

Formatting Requirements

  • Language: English
  • Word Limit: 300 words maximum (excluding title, authors, and affiliations)
  • Structure: Title, Background/Objectives, Methods, Results/Findings, Conclusions, Keywords (3-5)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point
  • Authors: Maximum 6 authors per abstract

 

Submission Methods

Required Information

  • Complete abstract following formatting guidelines
  • Lead author contact information
  • Author biographical statements (50 words each)
  • Conflict of interest disclosure
  • Ethical approval documentation (if applicable)
  • Preferred presentation format (oral/poster)

PRESENTATION FORMATS

Oral Presentations

  • 15-minute presentations followed by 5 minutes for questions
  • PowerPoint or similar presentation software
  • Technical support provided

Poster Presentations

  • Standard poster size: A0 (841 × 1189 mm) portrait orientation
  • Electronic poster displays available
  • Dedicated poster viewing sessions with author presence

Panel Discussions

  • Thematic panels with multiple speakers
  • 60-90 minute sessions with audience interaction
  • Invited based on abstract quality and relevance

FULL PAPER REQUIREMENTS (Post-Abstract Acceptance)

Accepted abstracts will be invited to submit full papers for:

Conference Proceedings

  • Length: 3,000-5,000 words
  • Format: APA 7th edition referencing
  • Sections: Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References
  • Peer Review: Double-blind review process
  • Publication: Conference proceedings with ISSN & DOI

Journal Special Issue

  • Selected papers may be invited for journal publication
  • Target Journal: Ghana Journal of Nursing and Midwifery
  • Extended Length: 6,000-8,000 words
  • Additional Requirements: Detailed methodology, expanded literature review

REVIEW CRITERIA

Abstracts will be evaluated based on:

  • Relevance to conference theme (25%)
  • Scientific rigor and methodology (25%)
  • Innovation and originality (20%)
  • Practical implications for nursing/midwifery (15%)
  • Clarity of presentation (15%)

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

  • Best Research Abstract Award - 500 GHS + Certificate
  • Best Student Abstract Award - 300 GHS + Certificate
  • Most Innovative Practice Award - 400 GHS + Certificate
  • Outstanding Poster Presentation - 200 GHS + Certificate
